HIZLI MENÜ
Muradiye Mosque and Mevlevihanesi +

It was built by Murat II on a hill dominating Sarayiçi in Küçükpazar neighbourhood. There is no date on the inscription. It is dated to 1426 based on the foundation and sources. Its architect is unknown. It is one of the most beautiful examples of mosques with side spaces (zaviyeli). It has a main space, two domed spaces at the back and the last congregation place, and a fountain in the courtyard. Despite the simplicity of its exterior appearance, the mosque is one of the most important works of the XVth century Ottoman Art in terms of its interior decoration. The tiles covering the mihrab and walls are among the most beautiful examples of Turkish tile art. The walls of the domed space in front of the mihrab are covered with hexagonal blue and white tiles decorated with natural floral motifs, and the intervals between them are covered with plain triangular tiles in turquoise colour. Coloured glaze and glazed technique were successfully used on the mihrab.
